Investing In or Owning Drug Lab Properties

Investing In or Owning Drug Lab Properties
By John Michael

Clean Up (includes the insides and the outside of a building)

Air out the building

Removal of contaminated materials: Carpets, carpet pads, Linoleum, drapes and blinds, air-filters, refrigerators, range, water heater, all tenant clothing and their furniture.

Removal needs to be to a site that accepts contaminated product.

All people that remove these items need to be specially trained and certified.

Surfaces: Extensive cleaning and replacement if the cooking occurred on those surfaces. After extensive wash down with bleach and other cleaners, seal walls and floors to seal in any contamination.

Ventilation systems: Furnaces and heaters will either need to be replaced or cleaned throughout all ductwork.

Plumbing: You might need to replace sinks, toilets and other accessible plumbing due to methamphetamine odors since meth residual was most likely deposited down the drains.

Repainting: Make sure the walls, ceilings and closets are cleaned, sealed and then painted.

Windows: Make sure they have been cleaned as well as the tracks. If the unit was especially heavily used, replace all of the windows. Doors in and outside need to be painted and door hardware needs to be washed down.

Exterior: Does the yard need to be cleaned up? Is there methamphetamine debris in the yard?

Most states required a certified industrial hygienist to approve of the clean up, and most states require a certificate of occupancy permit

Contact your state department of health for more information on this.

Women Recovering From Drug And Alcohol Addiction Part 1

Women Recovering From Drug And Alcohol Addiction Part 1
By Maureen Staiano

National studies have shown that drug addition is increasing among women. If would be safe to acknowledge that there is an increase as well concerning women and alcohol.

It is difficult to get exact numbers as to the increase, for women are often reticent to seek treatment for their addiction.

The women who do seek treatment for addiction often reveal high levels of depression and anxiety as well as low levels of self-esteem and selfconfidence. Past experience with domestic abuse and childhood trauma are often present as well. If you couple that with the social stigma that is attached to women in addiction, one can easily see that recovery is no small feat. It can be difficult for a woman to gather the courage to seek treatment for her addiction.

With that being said each year many women to make an attempt to change the destructive behaviors that have been hindering their lives. They take that first small step into living life in a whole new way. Establishing recovery under the best of circumstances is difficult. When a woman enters recovery and is carrying the incredible burden of guilt that is often experienced as a direct result of a history of addiction, support from other women is crucial.

That is in not to suggest that everyone in that persons life and recovery network is less important, but to indicate that support from other recovering women can make a huge difference between success and failure. Women coming into recovery are often suffering with low self-esteem and self-confidence. The guilt that is carried from feelings of not living up to the traditional wife and mother roles can be back breaking. Getting help from other women who have experienced those same feelings can go a long way in assisting the newly recovering woman to begin to forgive herself. Learning to be a woman recovering from addiction takes time and practice.

As the newly recovering woman begins to make different choices with respect to her addiction, healing can begin. Self-esteem and self-confidence will start to be restored and a new pattern of living can begin to be enjoyed. Trying to make all these changes alone, while not impossible is definitely the harder road to travel. Recovery is built upon a series of small steps one day at a time.

The thinking that keeps a woman in addiction is not the same thinking that keeps a woman in recovery. It is difficult to know exactly how to change all the destructive patterns that have defined a life in addiction. Many hospitals offer addiction counselingwhich will bring recovering women in contact with other recovering women. Alcoholics Anonymous is an established twelve step recovery program where recovering woman support one another. The same holds true for Narcotics Anonymous. These offer good options for women who are new to recovery but truly want to recover from addiction.

Recovery is hard work but the benefits far outweigh the difficulties. To give a recovering woman the best possible chance at success, support is priceless.

Women Recovering From Drug And Alcohol Addiction Part 2

Women Recovering From Drug And Alcohol Addiction Part 2
By Maureen Staiano

Woman in recovery are learning to do everything all over again, experiencing life from a new perspective. Changing many years of addictive behavior can be uncomfortable. It is important to recognize that from the very beginning. Often times just acknowledging this simple fact helps make the transition into recovery a little more comfortable.

The early weeks of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction can be some of the most important. Not every woman entering into recovery from addiction is going to have supportive people surrounding her. Sometimes the woman is the first to seek treatment and her husband, boyfriend or other family members may still be in the grip of addiction.

Having support from other sources is beneficial if that is the case. Friends or outside family members can offer support but if the woman is still struggling, a network of people in recovery can often provide good advice as how to handle getting clean and sober, even if you are the only one choosing to do so. Twelve step programs have been beneficial in lending support for all recovering people.

If on the other hand you are a woman who is receiving support from loved ones, dont be afraid to reach out and ask for help. Having a living environment free from drugs and alcohol can make abstinence much easier. Elicit the support of those living in your home to help keep anything that may be tempting out of the house. They are often happy to help once they see you are firm in your commitment to recovery.

The enemies of newly recovering people are; hungry, angry, lonely, and tired, otherwise know as H.A.L.T. By keeping a close eye on yourself as you move through the day to make sure none of these elements are getting out of hand you will make those early weeks and indeed your whole recovery a lot easier. When you see any one of these creeping to the forefront take immediate action.

Eating regularly helps you from getting overly hungry which can cause a drop in blood sugar and increases the cravings for drugs and/or alcohol. By planning ahead to address the problem of getting too hungry or by always carrying a small snack you help to protect yourself. Once overwhelming hunger hits you may already be at risk of wanting to use.

Angry and lonely can both be alleviated by having a network of supportive people and using it. Addiction is often a secret that the addicted woman has been carrying around for a long, long time. Talking about feelings as they come up with people who understand wipes out a lot of loneliness and helps diffuse anger. In early recovery from addiction these two feelings are often magnified and can cause the newly recovering woman to want to use again, if only to gain some relief from the feelings of discomfort.

Woman in early recovery from addiction often try to make up for everything they think they have cheated their loved ones out of. They try to be the best wife, mother, partner and employee. It is very easy to fall into the trap of burning the candle at both ends which quickly leads to exhaustion and a feeling of wanting to escape. If drugs and alcohol have been the usual means of escape it can be very tempting to want to try just a little to take the edge off. This can be a deadly mistake.

One of the best early recovery tools is balance, in all things.

A whole new way of life is being attempted and while it doesnt come easily it definitely does come to many women who doggedly pursue it. It takes a lot of courage for a woman to attempt recovery from addiction. Its important that she exercise self-care so she may have the best possible opportunity for success.

How To Select The Right Drug And Alcohol Rehab Center

How To Select The Right Drug And Alcohol Rehab Center
By Steven G

A person suffering from an alcohol or drug addiction needs help immediately. Without it, it is highly likely he will continue down a never-ending path of self-destruction that could ultimately lead to death. Unfortunately, drug and alcohol addiction are both extremely difficult to overcome. Therefore, the only way most addicts are able to truly fight the battle against drugs and alcohol is to receive addiction treatment through a reputable drug rehab program. Furthermore, it is essential that the addict find the rehab center that is best suited for him and his personality because if care is not taken to find a program compatible with his needs, a relapse is highly probable.

* The Specialty

Not all drug rehab centers specialize in every type of addiction recovery. Therefore, the first step in selecting the right drug or alcohol rehab center is to identify those that specialize in the drug the person is addicted to. For example, an alcoholic will receive little help from a program specializing in addiction treatment for those who abuse heroin. While the basics of addiction recovery are the same regardless of the type of drug that is abused, there are special considerations to be made with different drugs. The withdrawal symptoms can vary from drug to drug. In addition, the exact approach used to help the person recover from addiction can be different depending on the drug. Addicts may find a higher level of comfort treating in an environment where other addicts have shared the same drug experience.

* The Location

The location of an alcohol or drug rehab center can have an impact on its success with the addict. For some, it is best to find a rehab center that is located near to family and friends. In this way, it is possible for them to maintain more consistent contact with the addict. For others, it is better to find a rehab center that is further away from home because the memories and the people there make it too difficult to refrain from abusing drugs or alcohol. The proximity to home may cause triggers leading to early relapse.

* The Program

The first consideration a person must make when attempting to select the right drug and alcohol rehab center is the treatment program. Most drug rehab centers offer both inpatient and outpatient care programs, but careful consideration must be exercised when making the decision for the level of care. For some addicts, an inpatient care program may be the best option because they do not have the strength or ability to fight the addiction without receiving 24-hour care. For other addicts, outpatient treatment may be sufficient for overcoming the problem while still allowing the person to live a semi-normal life. A preliminary assessment by a physician or qualified counselor/therapist will help determine what level of care is most appropriate.

* The Approach

Nearly all alcohol and drug rehab centers provide physical and emotional care to help addicts overcome their disease. The exact approaches used by various rehab centers, however, can vary. For example, some centers place a greater emphasis on the physical aspect of the addiction while others focus more on the emotional impact. In addition, the way these rehab centers address both components of treatment may vary.

In some rehab centers, patients are provided with another drug in order to overcome the addiction. For some patients, however, there is a risk of becoming addicted to the replacement drug. Therefore, this type of approach may not be best for some addicts. Yet other rehab centers simply have patients go cold turkey, but this approach can be devastating for some patients and can even cause them to give up hope and want to quit.

In addition, the emotional approach used by rehab centers to assist with addiction recovery can differ. For example, some drug rehab programs may utilize less known approaches, such as music therapy and art therapy. Similarly, some centers may focus on hypnosis or acupuncture. Yet other programs may utilize only counseling and group therapy. For an addict, the approach used can make a huge impact on the overall success because if the addict does not believe in the type of therapy being utilized, they will likely be defeated before the recovery program even begins.

There are other questions that should be asked when making a decision about admission into an alcohol or drug rehab facility. Staff credentials, medical supervision, cost, typical length of stay, aftercare programs, 12 step philosophy, sobriety success rates, and family involvement are a few other important considerations to think about when making perhaps one of the most important decisions in the life of an addict.

Natural Therapies vs. Pharmaceutical Drugs: The Politics of Surviving Cancer

Natural Therapies vs. Pharmaceutical Drugs: The Politics of Surviving Cancer
By Paula Rothstein

It is understandable that a medicinal drug having undergone double blind studies, several years of research, and millions of dollars spent on that research, should have a place of credibility. But what if the entire system was flawed to begin with, money and time wasted on treating a symptom rather than working to find a cure or better yet, prevention of the disease? Or what if the system was more than flawed but in many cases left the person in a less healthy state after having completed treatment using a pharmaceutical drug? With all of our knowledge about how the human body works, knowing its intolerance of unnatural elements, why are we, as medical patients, so accepting of the idea that we should be treating ourselves with synthetic drugs that are virtually poison to our body? To relieve one symptom we acquire two or three new symptoms, a new chronic condition we need to deal with and, of course, another prescription medication to fill each month.

Of course, those involved in the area of holistic medicine can never claim to prevent, cure, or treat a disease, even if that is the intended outcome and regardless of the numerous individuals finding themselves to be in a state of improved health. Only drug companies can make such claims. In fact, they own those words. Whether or not that right is deserved is irrelevant. It is worth noting that most natural supplements have endured centuries of product testing.

Because of my interest in finding a holistic approach to addressing cancer, I recently came to distribute a product called Natural Cellular Defense which is a patented liquid detoxification product made from zeolite technology, marketed by the company of Waiora. Initially it was being researched as a cancer drug, however, because it is all natural, it was instead introduced to the market as a supplement. Studies show Natural Cellular Defense has the ability to remove heavy metals and harmful toxins in a safe and effective manner as well as activate the p21 tumor suppressor gene in cancerous cells. It also happens to be 100% non-toxic and is completely safe for all ages. This natural health product alone could conceivably help alleviate the toxins and waste accumulating in the average person, responsible for many chronic diseases. But no matter how many people are helped by taking this natural supplement, we make no claims. It is not a drug.

For years I have been frustrated by the radical and harmful techniques employed when treating tumors in cancer patients and would like to see non-toxic methods given greater attention and legitimacy. There is also far too much time and effort placed on detection rather than prevention of the disease. Prevention is the key, not detection. Detection means the disease has had a chance to manifest itself and take hold. At the very least we should not be poisoning a body with toxic drugs once a diagnosis has been made.

Here is the list of potential side effects of chemotherapy and you be the judge as to whether this sounds like a viable treatment option: Low hemoglobin, low white blood cells, low platelets, infection, need for blood transfusion, need for platelet transfusion, pain, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, skin injury, heart damage, lung damage, liver damage, kidney damage, loss of hearing, small stature, hormonal problems such as low growth hormone or low thyroid hormone, infertility, second cancer, intellectual decline, worsening of neurological symptoms, ineffectiveness, and death.

To understand better the hypocrisy of cancer treatment, consider the following: One of the largest and most prestigious cancer treatment centers in the world, The McGill Cancer Center in Canada, did a study of oncologists to determine how they would respond to a diagnosis of cancer. On the confidential questionnaire, 58 out of 64 doctors said that all chemotherapy programs were unacceptable to them and their family members. The overwhelming reason for this decision was that they believe the drugs are ineffective and have an unacceptable degree of toxicity. Do you imagine these same doctors are recommending chemotherapy treatment to shrink their patients tumors? Yes, indeed they are, as they must if they wish to follow standard protocol. There are alternative, non-toxic treatments available to cancer patients, but you must work to find these natural treatments on your own.

Of course, you may find a natural treatment you would like to pursue only to discover the medical profession standing in the way of implementing your treatment plan. A few years ago, I came across a story which is truly heart breaking. It involves a two year old boy named Alexander who was diagnosed with the most common pediatric brain tumor, medulloblastoma. After substantial consideration and thoughtful research by the parents following Alexanders two brain surgeries, the parents chose for their son a non-toxic therapy, proven to be highly effective in treatment of brain cancer. However, the FDA denied the parents access to this treatment and the parents were informed by their oncologists that without their state of the art chemotherapy, the cancer would soon return. Alexander completed his third month of chemotherapy in December 1998 and died on January 31, 1999. He was just two and a half years old.

For you see, the state-of-the-art chemotherapy protocol recommended by the oncologists had already proven itself to be ineffective in pediatric brain tumors back four years earlier.

The exact same chemotherapy drugs provided to Alexander in 1998 had been administered to children of the same age with the same brain tumor as Alexander with similar results. Of course, the parents were never informed about the failure of this therapy. You should note that when the parents hesitated to bring Alexander in for chemotherapy the oncologists were already preparing to take control by court order. The parents wanted to use a non-toxic treatment alternative, proven to be effective, and yet were forced to use an ineffectual, toxic treatment.

I am afraid these parents may have been harmed twice over by the medical establishment for there is also the possibility that the brain tumor was caused by vaccinations containing Thimerosal, commonly used in vaccinations at that time and responsible for numerous cases of neurological disorders in children, such as autism, ADD/HD, and brain tumors.

You can learn more about Alexanders story by visiting
http://www.ouralexander.org/index.htm.

Just how dangerous is chemotherapy?

The following excerpt can be found on the University of Iowas website. Their protocol for dealing with chemo spills conjures images of a rather frightening scene of contamination because it is, in fact, a serious state of contamination. It reads as follows:

Patients and caregivers shall be taught safe, proper, handling and disposal of waste generated during continuous infusions of chemotherapy.

The following procedures should be implemented immediately if a chemotherapy leak or spill should occur:

1. Put on a pair of disposable latex gloves.

2. If chemo has spilled on clothing, remove immediately and take a shower, scrubbing the exposed skin with soap and water. Watch for redness, blistering, or a burning sensation. Contact your nurse to report the spill. She will give you further instructions if necessary.

3. Remove any and all sharp objects, placing them into your sharps container or any can with a lid such as a coffee can.

4. Soak up the spill with an absorbent disposable material, such as paper towels.

5. Disinfect the spill area with soap and water or a household cleaner such as window cleaner, 409, alcohol, bleach, or liquid carpet cleaner.

6. Put the absorbent material and the gloves into a chemotherapy waste container or garbage bag and carefully mark it. It will be picked up later by the pharmacy personnel.

7. If a spill occurs on a patient's or caregiver's clothing or sheets, these articles should be washed separately from regular laundry in hot water.

8. If a spill occurs on unprotected furniture, the area should be scrubbed with soap and water and rinsed with clean water while wearing protective chemo safety gloves.

9. Patients and caregivers should be taught to use care when handling vomitus or excretions of the patient for 48 hours post treatment and to use good handwashing technique.

Now imagine the spill they are referring to as chemicals that an individual with cancer will be taking into their body because that is indeed the case.

By no means do I wish to demonize the medical profession as a whole because there are many quality doctors and instances when prescription drugs may be necessary, however, I encourage caution when taking advice that will affect your health. It is important to consider the possibility that sometimes the medical establishment may be leading us down the wrong path. Natural therapies may not be able to claim to cure or treat disease but sometimes you need to just take a step back and perform your own due diligence, take a look at the results and come to your own conclusion.

10 Tenets of Effective Drug Addiction Treatment

10 Tenets of Effective Drug Addiction Treatment
By David Westbrook

On any given day in the United States, one million people are in treatment for alcoholism or drug addiction. It is not getting into treatment, however, that makes the difference. Instead, it is what a person gets out of treatment. The fact that many people do not find success in treatment on their first attempt is due in part to a lack of understanding about what makes effective treatment.

1.There is no treatment formula that will work for everyone.

Occasionally, people looking for treatment will come across other individuals who are already in recovery and who insist that the only path to recovery is whatever path the recovering individual has taken. This simply is not true. The ultimate success of each individual entering treatment depends on finding the right treatment setting and methods for the individual, and everyones needs are different.

2. Medically supervised withdrawal is only one step in addiction treatment; alone it will do little.

Frequently, it is necessary for addicts and alcoholics to go through a medically supervised withdrawal period before they can safely enter treatment. However, some people confuse this short 3 to 7 day period with treatment, which it is not. Some people cycle in and out of these withdrawal episodes convinced that they should be able to maintain abstinence afterwards, but never finding success. Seemingly tragic, this allows some addicts to continue in their addiction while giving the appearance that they are attempting to get healthy.

3. Length of treatment counts.

The appropriate duration for an individual depends on his or her problems and needs. Research indicates that for most patients, significant improvement is reached at about 3 months. The research suggests that this may be residential, outpatient or a combination of both depending on the individuals needs. After this initial period, additional treatment can produce further progress toward recovery.

4. Drug addiction is a multidimensional problem, and treatment needs to address all of an individuals needs.

Effective treatment must address the individual's drug use, but also any associated medical, psychological, social, vocational, or legal problems.

5. Counseling (individual and/or group) is a critical part of effective addiction treatment.

Many alcoholics and addicts mistakenly believe that if they could just stop using for a week or two they could stop using forever. In reality, they need therapy. In therapy, addicts examine their motivation, build skills to resist drug use, replace drug-using activities with constructive and rewarding nondrug-using activities, and improve problem-solving abilities. Additionally, therapy helps individuals to rebuild and re-learn family and social living patterns.

6. Medications are an important part of treatment for many people. Medications such as suboxone, methadone and LAAM can all be effective in helping certain individuals stay away from illicit drugs. Some times frowned upon by some individuals in recovery the truth is that these medications allow millions of individuals to live normal, productive lives.

7. Drug testing during treatment is important.

Drugs are found everywhere, even in drug treatment. Whether treatment is offered on an outpatient, inpatient or in a jail drugs are available to individuals in treatment. This puts individuals in treatment at risk for reusing even while in treatment. It also means that every individual in treatment should be monitored for drug treatment on an ongoing basis. In this manner treatment, plans may be modified to increase the chance of ultimate success.

8. Alcoholics and addicts with mental health disorders should be treated for both at the same time.

An alcoholic or addict who also has a mental health disorder is said to have co-occurring disorders. In the past, the question has sometimes been should the person be treated for the mental health problem or the addiction first. People may be using drugs to deal with the mental health problem or they may have the mental health issue because of their drug use. The most effective way to deal with these two co-occurring disorders and deal with the addiction is to treat them at the same time.

9.Addiction Treatment works even for people who dont choose it of their own free will.

It used to be believed that someone had to want to go into treatment before it could be effective. New research has shown that this is not the case. In fact, treatment is just as effective for individuals who are court ordered to do treatment as it is for people who figure out the need for it on their own. Families and employers can be just as effective at getting unwilling addicts into treatment. Stephen King, in his autobiography On Writing, tells about the intervention his wife and family performed on him. King did not want to go into treatment. He was seemingly happy doing coke and drinking mouthwash, but his wife Tabitha and his children were not happy with the situation and performed an intervention. Forced to choose between family and drugs, King made the right choice. Interventions are most successful when done correctly and with the help of a professional. For more information on interventions visit www.interventionresources.net

10. Dont give up.

As with other chronic illnesses, relapses can occur during or after successful treatment episodes. Addicted individuals may need lengthy treatment and more than one time in treatment before they can enjoy long-term abstinence and full restoration to a drug free life. The period after treatment is just as important as being in treatment. Finding support and continuous work to stay drug free will be necessary. A slip or relapse is just an indicator that more work, and possibly more treatment, is necessary. Don't give up.

Yes You Really Can Stop Premature Ejaculation Without Drugs In Less Than A Week!

Yes, You Really Can Stop Premature Ejaculation Without Drugs In Less Than A Week!
By Alex Sharp

Until recently, guys with premature ejaculation problems had to wait at least a few weeks to see results from natural solutions. However, new research has finally revealed why some guys last and others simply cant. Based on the training principles of body building, it is now possible to teach your body how to have sex correctly through a serious of specially designed exercises.

So what is premature ejaculation, and how long is really enough?

Well premature ejaculation, or PE, is commonly defined as the inability to delay ejaculation to a point where both partners are satisfied; and this can be anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. It all depends on what you and your partner define as oo fast. Research shows that the average man will ejaculate within 1-3 minutes of penetration, while the average woman will orgasm after 12-15 minutes! With such a large gap it is no surprise that more than 30% of guys suffer from the anxiety of premature ejaculation!

So how do you stop it I hear you ask?

Fortunately, the ability to last a long time is a learned behaviour. Almost every man over fifty will tell you that he can delay ejaculation much longer today than when he was younger. Sexually inexperienced men have not yet learned to recognize the feeling of being about to come inside a woman. Recognizing and dealing with that feeling comes with experience. However, dont be fooled into thinking that just having more sex will cure this kind of inexperience it wont! Its not the amount of sex youve had its the amount of learning and training. Learning to control the penis and taking charge of your own ejaculation are the keys to success.

Using traditional methods such as the Squeeze Method, the Masters and Johnson Method and the Stop Start Method usually takes a few weeks to see results. These methods are designed for you and your partner to simply get used to sex and that is often the biggest part of early ejaculation problems anyway. Fixing Premature Ejaculation with the help of your partner only makes it even more embarrassing and awkward for you and its no wonder these techniques take so long to see results!

Doctors will sometimes prescribe medications that have ejaculatory retardation as a side effect. Even if those medications work (they dont always), this doesnt cure anything. You cant stay on the drugs for a lifetime, and in relying on the external aid, youll never learn to control your orgasm for yourself. Also, most of these sprays and drugs simply numb the penis so you dont feel the excitement. Whats the point of sex if you cant enjoy it?

If we change our approach to having longer sex by focusing on the actual love making muscles rather than just waiting to get used to coming slower, then results can be seen inside a week. In the sporting world, different training methods are used to build the two types of muscle fibres know as fast twitch and slow twitch. Generally weight lifters have denser slow twitch fibres for more power, and sprinters have denser fast twitch fibres for speed. If we apply their training methods to the muscles of sex, then we are able to develop total control much faster.

Gaining control during sex is as simple as taking control over your breathing, and control over the PC muscle. The PC muscle is located between the scrotum and the anus, and contracts both quickly and slowly during sex. By training it correctly, premature ejaculation can be controlled far quicker than by simply waiting for it to happen with traditional methods.

Also, anxiety is also a major contributor to fast ejaculation, and as a result your body tenses up and cant perform correctly. By learning correct breathing techniques you can relax your body, and coupled with the confidence of controlling your PC muscle, you can be well on your way to stopping this embarrassing problem for ever!

Outlining a full program to cure PE would take more than this article allows, however a basic program involves holding your PC for 10 seconds, then relaxing for a few seconds and repeating this cycle for 10 repetitions. You can also do short fast holds, for 20 reps each time. This will let you to begin to gain control over your PC muscle, and over time your PC worries will become a thing of the past!

Believe me, everyone is capable of lasting as long as they want to, and it has nothing to do with you thinking that you are in some way different to all the other ormal guys. You simply need to build new habits for sex and to understand how to control the correct muscles to last as long as you should be!

Alex Sharp has developed a unique 7-Day Program that GUARANTEES to stop Premature Ejaculation in 7 short days. To find out more about how this can benefit you, visit http://www.natural-stamina.com for further information, or contact Alex at alex@natural-stamina.com
